Fire Extinguishers

LIFECO introduces a complete Portable fire extinguisher range which is BSI Kitemark approved to the European Standard BS EN 3 and CE marked and has various other approvals that includes LPCB, Marine, SABS Etc.

There are basically six different types of extinguishers.

  • Water extinguishers, Foam extinguishers (AFFF ), Powder extinguishers(ABC ), Carbon dioxide extinguishers, Wet chemical extinguishers and Foamax (Hydrofilm 1R).
  • High specification paint finish for maximum corrosion resistance and operating life in even the toughest industrial or marine environments.
  • Lifeco fire extinguishers are easy for servicing and maintenance.
  • Lifeco also offers a wide selection of specialist portable extinguishers including traditional colours, non-EN 3 sizes, stainless steel bodies, extreme environment, and Class D metal powder, FE 36 and Halatron 1 alternative to Halon extinguishers.
  • Mobile extinguishers are available in a variety of sizes, extinguishants, and colours for effective and reliable industrial fire protection.
  • Fire Extinguisher Ratings :Class A and Class B fire extinguishers have a numerical rating which is based on tests conducted by BSI Laboratories that are designed to determine the extinguishing potential for each size and type of extinguisher.

Class A Fire Extinguishers will put out fires in ordinary combustibles, such as wood and paper. The numerical rating for this class of fire extinguisher refers to the amount of water the fire extinguisher holds and the amount of fire it will extinguish.

Class B Fire Extinguishers should be used on fires involving flammable liquids, such as grease, gasoline, oil, etc. The numerical rating for this class of fire extinguisher states the approximate number of square feet of a flammable liquid fire that a non-expert person can expect to extinguish.

Fire are suitable for use on flammable gases. This class of fire extinguishers does not have a numerical rating. The presence of this symbol indicates that the extinguishing agent is non-conductive and suitable for electrical hazards.

Class F Fire Extinguishers are suitable for use on Cooking oil fires, because of their high auto-ignition temperatures are difficult to extinguish. Conventional extinguishers are not effective for cooking oil fires, as they do not cool sufficiently or may even cause flash back, so putting the operator at risk..
