The myths & facts of Fire Sprinkler Systems

Myth: Water damage is often more extensive than fire damage

Fact: In most cases the sprinkler will operate at a very early stage in the fire's development, severely limiting the fire's growth. Damage will be much less than the water damage caused by a fireman's hose.

Myth: Sprinklers go off accidentally causing excessive water damage

Fact: Statistics compiled over the years indicate that the likelihood of this happening is remote. The sprinklers are tested to very high standards. The chances of a manufacturing fault are as few as 1 in 16,000,000!

Myth: When a sprinkler operates all the sprinkler heads go off together, flooding the building.

Fact: Sprinkler Heads detect the heat from the fire and only the sprinkler heads in the immediate vicinity of the fire are activated. In most cases only one or two sprinklers will operate

Sprinklers are the most efficient and effective safety device know to man, they have over a 99% success rate in service world wide.
