Grooved couplings provide an efficient mechanical method of joining steel pipes, but not every grooved coupling performs the same function.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two of the principal configurations are <\/span><b>rigid grooved couplings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y <\/span><b>flexible grooved couplings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Although they may appear similar, they are designed to provide different joint behaviour.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rigid couplings are generally selected where the connected pipe ends must remain in a controlled, fixed position. Flexible couplings are used where a defined amount of movement or deflection is required and permitted by the system design.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selecting between them requires more than identifying the pipe diameter.
